What tires and wheels did you put on this? They look really sharp.
Thanks! Kenda Klever tires and Fuel Shok wheels. ua-cam.com/video/gm82GHOMU3I/v-deo.html
I’m a senior master tech with 40 years with ford /Lincoln … flat rate is a barbaric pay plan .. I do only problem vehicles. B and c guys do all the paid labor work while the senior master gets new vehicles with problems .. I have to do everything from a transmission to a/c to upholstery work .. I am strictly warranty work . The business is finished .. there is no incentive for great techs who fix cars all day . I make roughly 100k a year at nearly 50 an hour . I produce anywhere from 35 to 45 hours a week . I am being very honest and this is all the truth anyone producing 60 to 80 a week is stealing from the manufacturer or the customer again I do no customer paid labor .. no brakes no services no cash work .. fixing cars is the worst way to make a living . Yes I make 100k a year but that isn’t even close as to what I should be making .. stay away from this business . this business is nothing but favoritism and ass kissing .. and you will go through 20 service managers in your career who think of you as a slave .. message me I’ll tell you how it really is . Ive given my life to this career and trained very hard and long .. not worth it at all
How many RPM are you cutting it at? Do you cut slowly vs fast like with softer metal?
Thankd for the video! Super helpful. And thanks for showing how to take it out of service mode!
Glad I could help!
Great video
It went faster each time cause your oil got hotter 👍 cold coolant and hot oil = happy engine
What is the risk of compression the rear piston by turning them in like a euro car and not going into service mode?
I have never tried it but I don’t think you will be able to turn the pistons.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS welp. I tried it on a 2020 escape. Replaced all rotors pads and rear shocks. When I saw the rear euro style piston that you turn while pushing in my brain forgot about the service mode thing. So when I was done. Turned the car on, pressed the brakes. OMG. Trac control off, hill assist off, pre-collision off, check brake light everywhere. The car called for help to the dealership and their phone going crazy from notifications of some ford app. I also lost rear brakes. So today labor day. After 4 sleepless nights I got the scanner for Forscan which works like vagcom which I have experience with. I was able to clear the DTC from the abs side of thing. Thankfully that fixed everything. The car is my neighbors car and I was trying to help them save about 80 percent of a quoted service bill. So people don't forget to put the car in service mode. I've aged about 2 years from this stressful experience.
Awesome
Half ass job, lots of little things omitted, ive seen tire installers do better prep to the mounting surface
Sexy hands
40 lbs per wheel/tire?? Or 40 lbs total for all 4 (10lbs ea)?
40lbs per.
Holy Moley! I just mounted Falken 205/60r16 A/T Trails on my 205/55r16 Corolla Hatchback & gained 7lbs ea wheel/tire (28lb total gain). I thought I got fat:)
What brand is this wheel balancer machine ?
Hunter Smart Weight.
Do you do anything with the weatherstripping on the sides of the soft top about the door windows? It seems like it should hook somehow and not be loose. You can stick your hand between the layers.
Yes, you can reach your hand through. There is nothing additional to latch on the sides, except for where the hinges are to put it in the half back position. Thanks for watching!
Is this the same procedure for the 2020 Escape SE?
The maintenance mode procedure is slightly different on newer models, otherwise it's the same. Set the ignition to ON. Press the brake pedal and release the EPB . Release the brake pedal. Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch to the RELEASE (downward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB switch. Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch. Set the ignition to OFF then release the accelerator pedal and EPB switch. Deactivation Set the ignition to ON. Press and hold the accelerator pedal. Place the EPB switch in the apply (upward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch. Firmly press the brake pedal for at least 1 second. Release the brake pedal while continuing to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch. Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds, then release the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.
Thank you, much appreciated! This is our first car with EPB. Anything special for doing the brake fluid flush on this vehicle?
@@JJK-le2yj My pleasure! No, brake flush is normal stuff.
Thanks again for the quick replies! It's haven't been easy finding info on these cars. I have been working on my own cars for a long time (F150s, Jeeps, etc) but this new tech stuff makes me nervous!
OK, so maybe I'm overtaking this, but I'm concerned with not be able to get the car out of maintenance mode. Thinking of disconnecting and removing the EPB motors and just replacing the pads and having our local shop do the flush when it goes in for tires next month. Any concerns with compressing the pistons without opening the bleeders? Sorry for all the questions!
Awesome Video , got home late had to do it in the dark. Your tricks on the side panels saved me. Thank you
Glad we could help, thanks for watching!
I saw it on racing junk for 260k due to the guy wanting to get out of the hobby hes selling the entire setup with spare parts as well. My favorite feature of it is the lightbar behind the grill
Interesting, was it for sale recently?
it still is. its been up for grabs since last year
Thank you so much, very informative 😊
Thanks for watching!
I have a 2004 XL-7. Good to know i could make it if I needed too. 😅 anywho Ive owned it since 2008 and it’s time to upgrade. I want the Lexus LX 570. Whoever ends up with the XL-7 will have an awesome smaller suv.
My sister in law bought this one new. It will go pretty much anywhere!
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS I was browsing the internet and saw the new 2024 XL-7 (not sold in the states of course). It’s really nice but I don’t think it would hold up to that 😆
This is what a severely neglected Lexus can do. ua-cam.com/video/39RaaKs8AAs/v-deo.htmlsi=eU9zai1G-oY1izHc
Nice mom's voice "do not slam this" "set it down gently" you are younger but you had me 😂
LOL Thanks for watching!
Yes it was worth it. Still worth it. The seats are not uncomfortable or ugly. The exhaust is not an off road exhaust. It’s just an axle back and does not go above commie Cali noise limits or remove the cats. You can’t hear the roots blower because it’s a commie street legal system and so keeps the air box.
I appreciate her explaining while having that fresh Mani 😅 but also appreciate explaining and suggesting how to be careful with it. (Especially for us ladies) Thanks queen!
Glad we could help, thanks for watching!!
Thank you so much we were scared take the top back
Gald we could help!
Damn why Ford made it like that 😮
It’s not that bad, she did it slow in the video.
Thank you just got one used!! Right to the point!!! Appreciate it!!!
Congratulations on the Bronco!
Why didn't you bleed the lines after you installed the new pads
That is not necessary unless you crack a bleeder or introduce air into the hydraulic system.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS Great thanks for the tip ,I've always bled the lines just a couple of pumps to help the pads settle in easier, anyway awsome video I really needed this as I was trying to figure out how to wind back the piston all the way back. Cheers
@@koruptj1838 glad I could help!
I wonder what the "engineer" that decided they needed 2 7mm screws to go along with the other Torx30 screws is doing now? Easier to just run a narrow zip tie thru those 2 spots. Don't get me started on the air filter and battery on 2017 Escape Ecoboost.
Some of the things they do are totally baffling!! An F150 door panel has 3 different types of fasteners.
You saved my butt. Every YT I saw showed folks screwing the caliper piston back down to flush with the caliper. I started this with needle noses and some force. The piston went in just a little and would no longer turn in despite cracking the bleeder and pumping the brakes gently in case the piston got cocked in the cylinder. Looks like all you did was mash it in with channel locks...... What worked for me was, with the old pads in and the guide pins out, just tugging outward on the caliper bodies against the rotors. This worked well, granted this is after I screwed the pistons in till I could no longer turn them. Note, I am just an average size guy of 65 so really not all that strong anymore. The car is a 2017 Escape with 108,000 and not too much corrosion, far as I know, the calipers are OEM. My notes are vague but did pads at 47K but don't recall so much trouble.
Glad I could help!
Thank you for saving me hours.
Happy to help!
This exhaust sounds good with the Coyote. Lozico boost always sound like clapped out Honda's
I agree that nothing sounds as good as the coyote but this one does sound better than stock.
Crazy how many people in the comments are complaining about how a procedure is done for the truck. Truck looks great
Yah, we found this to be the easiest way to do it. Thanks for watching!
thank you sir for this video 👏
Thanks for watching!
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS just finished changing my pads and rotor today. i had to activated and deactivate parking brake maintenance 3 times so i can push back the piston break deeper(i dont know if its normal) but everything went well after. your video really helps a lot. thanks again
If your tires are larger/taller it effectively changes your gear ratio and completely negates your test... A better test would be to simply add weight to the same tire and wheel package.
This test is not good at all for adding WEIGHT. Would need to install same size tires with different weights. And that is easy to do. Just jumping between an SL, XL and LT will give 1-15 pounds of different weight.
@@f5fstop i literally said the exact same thing.
He had all the parts loose already before you did the video
Just the sway bar mounts.
I just saw your car its a red like truck with your YT Channel written on it
At South hills village??
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS yeah
Best soft top video I have seen. Thank You so much!
I am glad you liked it, thanks for watching!
What if the truck still shows maintenance mode after you went through the steps to turn off
On occasion, it can take multiple attempts for it to turn off and sometimes, you need to drive it a short distance for it to reset.
I really appreciate ya getting back to me on this. It took multiple attempts but we got it! Great info!!! And Thanks again!!
Glad I could help!
I have the same car, same colour. 85,000 kms on it now and it runs like new. The 305/30/19’s that come on it are great but if you are driving it daily the 285/35/19’s are a lot cheaper.
It truly is a fantastic car!
Sorprendentes resultados, pero lo que no será tan sorprendente es el aumento de consumo de combustible !! 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Thanks for letting know.
Love the look with the 35🔥🔥🙌Can you tell how the noise on the road or highway is with those tires? Thanks
Thanks! The Kendas are not bad at all. I had them on my '21 Tundra as well.
Does it make a great difference in a matter of road noise and comfort?
It all depends on tire choice. The more aggressive the tread, the louder and rougher it will be. The Kendas are a happy medium. Look good and not too noisy.
@@PIPSBURGHVIEWS can I send the type I found so you’ll tell me I’m really concerned thats why I’m not changing it bfgoodrich 315/70/R17
Didn’t know about the EPB, and ended up hitting the parking brake while the caliper was out. The piston engaged the parking break and now I’m getting a brake fault code. Any idea how to fix this?
Oh no! You can try taking it in and out of maintenance mode a few times. Sometimes, if you drive it a little while the light will go out. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for replying. I thought it was a long shot since the video was 4 years old. I will try this.
$40 is what the price is at most Ford dealers near me in the northeast, just for regular oil. It's about double that price for full synthetic. So for my 2017 Lincoln MKC 2.0 almost 6 quarts. It's about $26-$28 for the oil and $3-$5 for a factory oil filter. Walmart takes the oil for free. So for me especially with 4 vehicles all running synthetic, it's far cheaper and easier to it myself. I know exactly what I'm getting. Not that businesses are scammer's, I just don't trust anyone I don't know well and when it comes to money, it's so easy for a oil change facility to charge for full synthetic but only use generic oil. How will anyone know? Over time that's alot of money saved and made. Just saying, nooone goes and has their motor oil tested, so it's an easy scam for businesses to do without getting caught, just like parts, whether aftermarket or oem, especially if the parts are hard to see or find. The average customer is just trusting the integrity of a business or their employees. Sometimes there are great reputable businesses that just hire shady people. Gotta always cover your own ✌🏽❤️
Ford recommends synthetic blend and most dealers have it in a bulk tank. So, it would be hard to pull a bait and switch but unfortunately, I am sure it is happening somewhere. Thanks for watching.
Are there nuts on the other side of those screws? If not, did you/should you add Threadlocker on those bolts to keep them in place?
No nuts. The frame has threaded inserts. While loctite wouldn't hurt, I have never had a problem not using it. Thanks for watching
👍
And fuel consumption?
Lost about 2.5mpg
Looks good
Thanks!
Found out the hard way don't go with 2.5 inch
Oh no, what happened?!
Thanks so much. Just got one... Now I know how. Seems like alot of work... I'm lazy
Congratulations on the Bronco and thanks for watching!
